Lucerna is the tool we kept not finding on set. After one production too many running on spreadsheets, PDFs emailed back and forth, and Final Draft files nobody could agree on, we built the thing that should have existed.
Why we built Lucerna
We have shot features with production pipelines split across five different apps, three cloud services, and a shared Google Drive that nobody trusted. Scripts in Final Draft, schedules in StudioBinder, budgets in Excel, call sheets in a Word template from 2009.
It is not that good tools do not exist. Some of them are fine. The problem is that they do not talk to each other, they cost a fortune per seat per month, and they treat your data as collateral they hold while you keep paying.
We wanted one thing: write the script, and have the production tools understand it. Automatic breakdown from what you actually wrote. Stripboard that reflects real scenes, not scenes you manually entered somewhere else. A shot list that knows which location you are in.
That is Lucerna. One purchase. One app. Everything connected. Nothing leaving your machine without your explicit permission.
What we are not
We are not a venture-funded startup trying to grow to an exit. We are a small production company in Turin that makes films and builds tools. Lucerna will not be “acquired” by a larger company that turns it into a subscription or sunsetting it. We use it to make our own films. That is the best guarantee we can offer.
Luminos Film productions
Lucerna is built by the same team that works on Luminos Film’s film projects. We are an active production house, not a software company cosplaying as filmmakers. That is the point. We know what the tools need to do because we use them on set.
