Terms of Service
These are the terms under which Luminos Film licenses Lucerna to you. Read them once. They are not a trick.
Effective date: April 25, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Lucerna (“the Application”), a native macOS software application developed and sold by Luminos Film S.r.l. (“Luminos Film”, “we”, “us”), registered in Italy. By downloading or using Lucerna, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the application.
1. The licence
When you purchase Lucerna, you receive a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Application on any Mac you own or control, subject to these Terms and to the Mac App Store terms.
You buy it once. You own the licence. Nobody can revoke it because you stopped paying, because we changed our minds, or because a pricing team had a quarterly review.
2. What you can do
- Install Lucerna on any Mac you personally own or control.
- Use Lucerna for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial.
- Create, edit, export, and distribute content you produce with Lucerna. Your content is yours. Always.
- Make a reasonable number of backup copies for your own use.
3. What you cannot do
- Resell, sublicense, rent, or lease Lucerna to third parties.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Application, except where required by applicable law.
- Remove or obscure any proprietary notices within the Application.
- Distribute cracked or modified versions.
- Use Lucerna to build a competing product without our written consent.
4. Your content
Lucerna processes your scripts, production documents, and related files locally on your device. We do not access your content. We do not store your content. We do not claim any rights over your content.
What you write is yours. Full stop.
5. Updates
We ship updates regularly. Updates delivered via the Mac App Store are included in your purchase at no extra charge. Major version upgrades (e.g., Lucerna 2.0) may be sold separately. We will be clear about this when it happens.
6. Upgrade pricing
If you purchased Screenplay Only and wish to upgrade to Screenplay & Production, you pay the difference between the two licence prices. We do not charge fees on top of that difference. The coupon is delivered with your original App Store receipt.
7. Trial periods
Lucerna may offer trial periods that allow you to evaluate the Application before purchasing. During any trial period, all features of the relevant tier are available. At the end of the trial, the Application stops working until a licence is purchased. No credit card is required to start a trial.
8. Availability and updates
We ship when things are ready. We do not commit to release schedules, specific features, or update timelines. We use Lucerna ourselves. We have every reason to keep it good. But we do not guarantee uptime, feature completeness, or any specific roadmap item.
9. Warranties and liability
Lucerna is provided “as is”, to the extent permitted by applicable law. We warrant that the Application will perform substantially as described for a reasonable period. If it does not, your remedy is a refund from the Mac App Store, per Apple’s standard refund policy.
To the extent permitted by law, Luminos Film is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Lucerna, including loss of data. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the licence.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable Italian or EU consumer law.
10. Termination
Your licence terminates if you violate these Terms. On termination, you must stop using Lucerna and delete all copies. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone in violation of these Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Turin, Italy, except where applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice. Continued use of Lucerna after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
